Growing and Learning... So Smart!!

Sorry for the delay. Right before Daddy left, Mommy got a new computer and camera cause Daddy took the others with him. She says Windows 7 is a bit temperamental and her camera is an upgrade from what she had which means she has to learn it again. AND, Let's be honest - the last two weeks have been a little upside down for us! So here we finally are....

I had a rough week. My babysitter took a vacation and we had to make other arrangements. Well Mommy and Daddy got me a spot on base at the CDC. I cried and clung to Mommy every morning --- but she still left. The teacher gave me up, telling Mommy I was fine within 10-15 minutes. (There were new kids and toys to play with!) Nonetheless, at the site of the building on Friday I said, "No. No, Mommy." and then pretended to sleep when she came around to get me out of the car (Told her, "Shhh, seeeping. Ahh shooo Ahh shoo [snore sounds]).

I helped Mommy get my water ready for play.
I insisted on filling the water table with the hose
and then using this green cup to fill my pool from the water table. :)

I have also been having trouble sleeping. I have been waking with dreams (maybe?) and yelling out - all too often for my Daddy. *** Poor baby.*** Mommy says that maybe things will get better once I get back to Ms. Amber's and get into a routine again.

I look for Daddy a little less and now just go over to the computer and ask for him. We get to skype about 2-3 times a week and Mommy let's me watch videos other times. And if you ask me, I'll tell you he is at work so I feel like I'm kinda understanding...kinda.
Well, it was a try. Last summer this girl loved ALL melons.
This was the first and only taste before deciding it was yucky...

Our weekend has been very relaxed. Running errands, laundry, sleep, playing outside, and getting ready for Friday. My auntie was really cool and bought Mommy and I a plane ticket to the cities this weekend to celebrate the 4th. I am so excited!! Mommy says I get to go on an airplane (any pointers Sarah?) and my Auntie has a pool at her house! Plus, she has friends with kids right about my age! We won't get home till Monday so the blog may be a little late, but it should be good! :)

**Fun stories Mommy keeps forgetting to share:

- Shaye decided to not only teach Maddy that a car says "beep beep" and a truck says "honk honk" but how to identify every vehicle as well. The other day as we are walking through a parking lot she says: "Mommy truck... S- uuuu- v.... s- uuuu- v... car" all the way to the door :)

- Driving to base last week as we cross the interstate on an overpass I hear; "Momma bige [bridge]" Little stinker.

- She also endlessly ask for a "baketball" each time we enter a department store. I wonder if this is due to being her last time in the store with Daddy (she got to buy a basketball hoop)? She typically finds a ball and works her booty off trying to make it out of the store with it. So far, I've managed to distract and hide them....so far...

- She ALWAYS tells me when she goes poo poo and even peed in the potty this weekend! TMI for some I know. I take these as positive signs that she is ready (although I still have to wait for the sitter to get on board).

- Her sentences are ridiculous lately. Easily 3 words most occasions. I'm sooooo proud! :) Speaking of ridiculous... she repeats most EVERYTHING. Yep, really gotta watch that one. I heard her saying, "Weally? Widiclus. [Really? Ridiculous.]" the other day as I was verbally amazed at one of her tantrum episodes.

Video: Daddy! (You can see how the mind of a toddler wanders...)

I had 3 videos I really wanted to share but I think the new camera is much higher resolution or something. Gotta get this thing figured out... Spent far to long trying to load them, but at least you got one! :(

Until next week, x

Whew - that's all I got...

Whew. Where to begin? I'm late posting, yes, I gues I'll start there....

This past weekend I was very sick. Well, slowly progressing flu I guess. Barely any trouble, just not feeling great Saturday, significantly worse on Sunday, and after vomitting until there was nothing left right away Monday morning, Mommy said "That's it." She got me an appointment on base with the hopes of an anti-nausea medication so I could finally eat/drink (I wanted to, just couldn't keep it down). Well, they won't give this medicine to kids under 2 due to the sedation effect of it so the Practitioner said, 'I'd really like to see her get some IV fluids - let's do an admit to the hospital.' "WHAT?!" and tears was Mommy's reaction. Iwas too lethargic to really care/ know what was up. They sent us to a "town" doctor who admitted us directly from his clinic (he was on-call at the hospital and that way we avoided the ER).

Day 1:

The whole thing was HORRIBLE. It took 3 big pokes to finally establish an IV site. 3 pokes later that day for more blood, and 2 more the next morning for more blood! Mommy was a bit forceful the last morning. Both sticks were different people a couple hours apart - she said, "One poke, no fishing, you can't get it we are calling in someone else!" I am still showing off my "owie" (having several bruises from this event) and will not forget that place any time soon.

Other issues included a doctor who would only order Pedialyte and Gatorade which I snuffed my nose at. That night Mommy finally convinced him to let me try water and toast or dry cereal and I did well. The next day we saw a different doctor who gave us free range to eat whatever with the hopes of helping us discharge. It took all day and several orders of different things but the winning meal was a plate of spaghetti and a glass of milk at about 5:00 Tuesday night. Homeward bound by a bit after 7 for a much needed good night sleep!

Day 2:

"Oooouuuuuttt!!"
(I got really good at pushing my IV around)

** Mommy note: As much as I wanted to do what was best - we got NO sleep with interruptions every half hour and no sleep + no food = a very unmanageable toddler. Maddy was feeling well enough to finally play, just not in her little box of a room! I knew we were in trouble when I was considering a good 'time out' location at the hospital. She really wasn't that naughy - we were both just THAT tired and both crying by the end of it all. Let's just say we strongly and seriously hope NEVER again!

The other new challenge for our little family...

Daddy is gone now. Doing his duty on a deployment and it was very hard to say goodbye. Even harder once we found out I was getting admitted to the hospital. This is the first he's left since I've come along, (well, for a long period of time anyway) and we all have some adjusting to do. I'm not sure I get it. I continue to look for him in the bedroom and for his car in the garage. (**Wonder what she'll think when I bring his car home this weekend) Mommy keeps telling me he's at work, but I don't know... I did see him on the computer today though and that was VERY exciting! He says he feels like he is in an oven and that the temperature is 125! Man, I thought TX was hot!

I also got a suprise from Daddy in the mail the other day. He ordered me a Daddy Doll. It has his picture on one side (in uniform) and the American flag on the back. He also put a voice recorder inside with a special message just for me! It is so perfect I can hug it whenever I want and I even get to sleep with Daddy! https://www.hugahero.com/

You can kinda see the doll in the first picture (taken on my mobile, I know, not sooooo good) and the second picture, Mommy caught me snuggled up with Daddy!

In other exciting news, I got to go pick out a potty before my Daddyleft! It is just for looks right now. I love sitting on it, opening and closing it, and talking about it.

My Daddy also bought me a basketball hoop. He says he is gonna teach me all the moves I need. (**Secretly, I think it was more for Shaye to enjoy ;)

Although we got home Tuesday night, Mommy and I spent Wednesday trying to catch up on our sleep and eat regularly again before heading back to the grind (work and daycare). We read, painted, colored, did puzzles, took a 3 hour nap, and of course had some water play!

I made Daddy a picture
(and turned myself in to a masterpiece!)

I was a bit picky eating for a couple days after being sick. Mommy caved and let me eat wherever I wanted - can't you see my joy? Unfortunately, this weekend, it was back to the chair!

Okay all, hope you have had a great past couple of weeks. We'll try to get back at this regular blogging.... "single parenting" may be interesting though so cross your fingers for Mommy. As a good friend of her said, "Maddy is getting this all out of the way right now so the remainder of the deployment is a breeze!" Let's hope. Love to you all!
Cute video - couldn't get it to post. Having trouble with my new computer/ windows and Internet Explorer. check back, will post this week if I can get it all sorted!

Water (at the Fire Station on base)
Co-Pilot in the big red truck.

Another busy week for me! I got to go to the fire station this week with my daycare and see Sparky (the dog). Daddy was off so he got to come with and took some pictures to share with you all. I like the fire trucks.... I LOVED that it was on the flight line and there were planes close by :)
First sight of the planes....
"Hi Airplanes"
(notice everyone else in the truck behind me :)

Sparky the dog was there to tell us all high. We were pretty excited and took the opportunity to practice our toddler jumping skills.

Saturday was the first of many 100+ degree days. It was also a very eventful and exciting day. Mommy and Daddy took me to IHOP where I enjoyed lots of eggs, sausage, and pancakes. Mmmmm. Then we all went to the zoo. Yes, this is our new favorite place. I get so excited about the animals and our season pass has been coming in real handy - Thanks Grandma! This time was extra special. I got crackers for the first time ever, special zoo crackers you can feed to some of the animals.
There is a park nearby (across a big pond/lake) and we got to go there to play after we were done with the animals.
**Mommy note: There were a bunch of big and crazy Carp swimming to a bridge as people were feeding them. They would follow people as they walked along the railing - weird. As people would drop stuff in the water, there would be a frenzy of crazy fish trying to eat it. Never seen anything like it... Gross. So of course I had to get a pictures :)
On the way back to the car Mommy heard some music, and before I knew it, I was enjoying my very first Popsicle.
Whew, all this and we were home and napping by noon. Perfect day if you ask me!

Lately, I have been spending a lot of time outside in my swimming pool. But Daddy has taught me a new idea that is a must whenever the sidewalk chalk comes out...
*Daddy update: He got an injection of steroids this week. He is still pretty sore and is not so sure it is gonna help at all/ hasn't yet. Well, we are hoping for the best with his new medication and that he is able to have some pain relief for a few months.

Finally, I save my best video for last. I got to feed the Giraffes at the zoo! They have the coolest tongues and I couldn't get enough! Until next week. xoxo
