Birthdays & Veggies

Mmm, sweet potatoes... my favorite!

Hello! We had a nice week... I've been experimenting with new foods and loving it. So far, I love sweet potatoes, green beans, bananas are okay, and I'm still deciding about applesauce. Mommy bought a hand blender and says she is going to make even more fresh foods for me to try that she's sure I'll love! After all, I started to turn my nose up at bananas until today. Today, Mommy pureed a fresh banana and I liked it again! (Veggies are still my fav)

Green beans are yummy too!

Happy belated Birthday to my Daddy and Uncle Chad!! Friday was SO busy that we didn't have time to blog to them. Friday moring, we made muffins and finished Daddy's birthday cake so we could drop it by work for him. Then, I went to Ms. Maureen's early so that Mommy could meet Daddy at her school where they met Julian who re-enlisted Daddy. It was nice that the nurse that delivered me and who has become a good friend (remember, his wife works with Mommy?) also did this other special thing for us. Apparantly, they all went to lunch after and didn't invite me!

After work, we finished making dinner for the Flory's (who just had Baby Dylan on Tuesday). Daddy had to go to work. Well, on the way to drop off the food we stopped to get gas, got stuck on base due to some security issues, stopped to wait for a train, and eventually made it over an hour later than we should have been! CRAZY day and we were all ready for bed that night.

Saturday, Daddy had class in Cambridge again and got to tour some more. We met up with our friends Teresa and Roman, took them with us and met Daddy later. Teresa took some pictures of me...I am so photogenic :) We then met Daddy, along with Clint and Alicia for a night out at a Sushi resteraunt (no, Mommy didn't eat any - they had good noodles too).

Sunday was all about the rest! We took it easy while Mommy did laundry and refreshed for another week of work!

These are some of my favorite pictures from Saturday.... Isn't Teresa great???

Wind is FUN! :)

Love to you all! I leave you with a video of the sweet potatoes... I'm getting really good at blowing them back at Mommy ;)

Growing like the Flowers!

Hello... can't keep you waiting on this post, but keep checking back for me to get the travel post completed... there is a lot more to come! It has been so nice here. We are excited for more "summer" like weather!

I'm starting to figure out this sitting thing... still a little tipsy, but it's coming!

I had a good week overall. Spent some extra time with Ms. Maureen because Mommy had to catch up on some work. I am figuring out my schedule though... eating about the same and at the same time for the sitter and also taking a nap in the afternoons. Mommy says I am a very good girl for doing this. She also likes that I'm happier in the afternoon when she picks me up now. Guess I can keep taking naps so I have more time to play with her when we get home for the day!

I also spend a lot of time drooling. We use an average of 3 bibs a day and on Sunday we went through 3 pants, 4 shirts, and 4 bibs (I was spitting up a bit too). Mommy says she can't wait for my first tooth to show because she read that it gets better after number 1. We'll see...

I excitedly opened a belated Easter basket on Saturday. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Eichenberger! Mommy even let me chew on one of these eggs!
We went to dinner with our friends Misty and Julian one night. Misty works with Mommy at the school (I've mentioned her before, she is a baby nurse like Auntie Jessica was for her "real" job) and Julian is actually the nurse that helped deliver me :) He's so nice! He's also going to be the one to re-enlist Daddy on Friday... man, he's a special guy!

I got to try some bananas today! I have been giving Mommy a hard time and not really interested in the rice cereal so much anymore. Although she is still planning to make baby food for me (she's got to get a food processor), she opened a jar this morning so I could check them out... I'm likin this "solids" notion!

Always helpin'
Pucker face...
I think I like?

Oh, Sophia turned 3 this past week! She had a party on Saturday which I went to for a little bit, but then had to hurry home to get ready for dinner. Neil and Rachel came to hang out and play with me Saturday night. I even rolled tummy to back once for Mommy and Rachel, but wouldn't repeat it for Daddy and Neil... gotta keep them interested somehow ;) Sophia's little brother, Dylan, is going to born tomorrow morning!! I can't wait to tell him Happy Birthday!

I showed Daddy that I can stand by myself (with a lil help from my jumper). Cool huh?

Love you all,
Madelyn et. al.

Travel...

Wow, four cameras takes a lot to organize so I could post for you! LOTS of pictures must = GREAT trip :) Sorry to keep you waiting but I think you'll get most of the highlights from this blog.

Friday: Picked Chad, Jacob, and Cara up at the airport. I slept the whole way and was a very good girl! Mommy was looking forward to me having some entertainment on the way home, but I slept again... Good thing, they weren't very entertaining and I was afraid I was gonna get drooled on!!

Saturday: We took it easy in the morning and then went to Bury to see some local life. Daddy went with a friend to pick up the rental van while we were gone. (None of our cars could hold all six of us!) They got to see a local market and explore the remains in the Abbey Garden.
Of course the boys were climbing. Mommy wouldn't let them take me :(

Sunday: OFF to Germany!!!
We took the Chunnel (Channel Tunnel) which was a first for everyone but Daddy (well, everything about this trip was a first for me). You drive onto a train and park and then sit in your car and enjoy the 30 minute journey under water. When you stop, you are in France. It was nice because I got to stretch my legs during this portion of the journey.

Can you see me chillin' on the floor?

The boys were making fun of Cara. She slept through France on the way there AND back!

We then drove on into Belgium and stopped in Brugge. Apparently known as the "Paris of the West" Mommy says it was beautiful, but the chocolates were the best part! She said we are going to try and go back one more time before we leave England... man, that list is getting long.

It was still another 4 hours to Ramstein (the Air Force Base in Germany) after we left Brugge. We arrived in the evening, in time for a late dinner and check in to our hotel room... it was a fabulous 4 bedroom apt. base. Everyone got their own rooms and beds! Well, I shared Mommy and Daddy's room but had my own bed :)

Monday: We toured around the local area. Everyone was tired so we had a late start and to be honest, no one was really excited about getting back in the car right away. First we saw Landstuhl Castle with great views.

The Golden Arch is everywhere we go... :)

Then we visited this tower... still not sure what it is from, but again had great views of the area. Actually, I was asleep in the van so Daddy decided to stay with me (since he is in Germany all the time) and Mommy took everyone on this walk. They said Cara almost fell on the slippery leaves and scared Mommy!

That night we introduced the cousins to Snitzel. Mmmmmm good!!

Tuesday: We drove to Bingen where we intended to take a River cruise along the Rhine, but because of the off-season, they only had one boat going and we missed it! Instead, after spending some time in Bingen, we drove along the River and stopped in St. Goar to visit the Rheinfelspfad Castle. Another funny story... almost didn't get to go in because they only took cash and Mommy and Daddy think they had enough (the town with ATM's was back down a big hill and time was not on our side). Luckily they scrounged up enough and we all got to go inside!

MORE TO COME... CONTINUED AGAIN... :)

FIVE months!

First, Happy Belated Easter

and

Happy 18th Cara on your longest birthday ever!

Wow, can you believe that I have been entertaining you for 5 months? SO much has happened these last two weeks, I'm not sure where to begin...

Sorry I didn't post last week, but I was busy entertaining my uncle and cousins and trying to pack for my first BIG road trip!

Okay, I decided there was just so much going on that this post would be dedicated to ME and then later this week (a couple days or so) I will post pics from all our travels/ countries visited.

Mommy and I pretty much just spent a couple of days getting ready for our company while Daddy was in Germany and then on the 3rd I got to pick up my Uncle Chad and cousins Jake and Cara from the airport. After that, it was all about FUN, FUN, FUN! All of that will be in the next post...

Back to me...

I have had a very busy two weeks. I have learned:

1. I sleep VERY well in the car (making for long nights once we reach our destination).

2. Teething BITES! I was a drooly, diaper rash crank for a lot of the days our company was here. I couldn't help it though - do you know what that feels like?

I love to suck on my lower lip :)

3. Baby orajel is magical... if only Mommy and Daddy would have figured that out sooner!

4. I know how to work my Daddy :) He doesn't like it when I holler in public so when I do, I don't have to ride in my pushchair... he carries me!!

5. I LOVE rice cereal. Mommy should just give me the spoon. She doesn't shovel fast enough!

Give me the spoon!

Uncle Chad, you opening your mouth does not help.

6. Dying Easter eggs was kinda fun - but they wouldn't let me eat the eggs or drink the dye.

The box was also tastey!

7. I have MASTERED the roll-over (back to front) and even managed a slight tumble - No worries, it wasn't far and I will go on to suffer bumps over and over and over...

I am also working on sitting up. I love it and just need to get a little more strength and balance, plus this is an ideal position to play with my toes!

8. Did I mention in my last blog that my feet are DELICIOUS?

9. I am growing. The boys weighed me on the produce scale, just over 15lbs! I also had to make my jumper taller.

I swear this caterpillar comes off...

10. It is way more fun sleeping with Mommy (I also learned this in Germany). Not sure why she is so insistent on getting me to stay in my crib... I am determined to try to win this battle.

Finally, another "one-of-a-kind" onsie:

Love to you all and stay tuned for the travel post!
